Being a web designer and developer, family and friends often come to me with this question about Wix vs. WordPress [or other website platforms for that matter]… They ask, “why pay someone to design and build your website when Wix lets you do it for free? I say well, there are many factors that come into play. A couple of the main points are hosting and limitations. Wix lets you put up a website for free but you cannot use your own custom domain name and they put Wix advertisements on your page. If you want to remove the ads and use your own domain name, then you have to pay for Wix’s hosting plans. You cannot move your site to a new host later or edit the code of their pre-designed templates. Not to get off topic, below is a great article that gives explains pros and cons for each one.
